Forecasting Website Advertising Sales?
I am considering a website project that takes an industry resource site and utilizes a virtual community function. The site is content based and relies on advertising sales for revenue. Initial research shows the size of the targeted groups within the industry to be substantial (+3,500,000 as reported by the BLS) and the content should attract additional cross-over users.
Is there a systematic method or algorithm to forecast site traffic?
Once the traffic is estimated, is there an algorithm to translate that number into advertising revenue?
I’m a marketing student who is just beginning to see how to bring this idea to fruition and would appreciate any feedback in regards to forecasting revenues, development and maintenance costs, and about assembling/outsourcing a team that could bring my idea to the market.
Any advice on what to divulge to consultants and what to keep to myself in order to preserve my ownership?
Thanks for your help.
